Common questions

How are prayer times calculated?

Jantri uses standard astronomical calculations based on your device location. The first time you open the app, you'll be asked to allow location access — this is used once to compute prayer times and the Qibla bearing for your area.

Why does Jantri need my location?

Prayer times depend on the sun's position, which varies by latitude and longitude. The Qibla compass needs your coordinates to calculate the great-circle bearing to Mecca. Your location stays on your device — see our Privacy Policy for details.

The Qibla needle isn't pointing correctly. What should I do?

Make sure your phone's compass is calibrated — most phones ask you to wave them in a figure-8 motion when calibration is needed. Also, keep the phone away from magnetic objects (laptops, speakers, magnets) which can interfere with the magnetometer.

Can I read the full Quran offline?

Yes. All 114 surahs are bundled with the app — no internet required to read, search, or browse. The Arabic text and translations are stored locally on your device.

Why don't I see prayer notifications?

Make sure notifications are enabled for Jantri in your device settings. On iOS: Settings → Notifications → Jantri. On Android: Settings → Apps → Jantri → Notifications.

Does Jantri work without internet?

Yes. Once installed, Jantri works fully offline. Prayer times are calculated locally, the Quran is bundled with the app, and the Qibla compass uses your device's sensors. No data is downloaded or uploaded.

Why are there no ads?

Because we believe an app for daily worship should be quiet, focused, and respectful. Jantri is free, ad-free, and never shares your data.
