Jantri (“the app”) is built and maintained by Woltrap. This policy explains, in plain language, what Jantri does and does not do with your information.
TL;DR
The app does not collect, share, or transmit any personal data. It has no account system, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party SDKs that send data off your device. The Qibla feature reads your device location locally to compute the direction to Mecca; that reading stays on your device and is never stored or transmitted.
What the app stores on your device
The app saves a single setting on your device using the operating system's own preferences storage:
- Your selected theme (light / dark / follow system).
That's the entire list. The setting is stored locally on your device, never transmitted anywhere, and is removed when you uninstall the app.
Location
The Qibla feature needs to know roughly where you are in order to compute the great-circle bearing from your position to the Kaaba in Mecca. To do that:
- The first time you open the Qibla tab, your operating system asks you to allow Jantri to use your location. This is a standard system prompt.
- If you allow it, Jantri reads your latitude and longitude once and uses them on the device to calculate the qibla bearing and distance.
- The reading is held only in app memory while the screen is open. It is not written to disk, not transmitted off the device, not associated with any user identifier, and not shared with any third party.
- If you deny the prompt, the rest of the app continues to work — only the Qibla compass page is unavailable.
The app requests low-accuracy location, which is enough for an accurate bearing and minimises battery use.
What the app does not collect
- No name, email, phone number, or other identifying information.
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID).
- No analytics events, no crash reports, no usage telemetry.
- No contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access.
Sensors
- Magnetometer / compass — used solely to render the Qibla needle on screen as you turn the device. Sensor readings stay on the device and are not stored.
Network
The app itself does not make any outgoing network requests. The only time your device may contact the internet on the app's behalf is when you tap an external link on the About page (the developer's website, the studio's website, or the Buy Me a Coffee link). In that case the link opens in your browser, which is governed by your browser's own privacy settings.
Children
Jantri is rated 4+ on the App Store and Everyone on Google Play. The app does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be published at this URL with an updated effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
